Medical Director, Nurse Practitioner

Seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner with prior FQHC Medical Director experience to provide clinical leadership for a Federally Qualified Health Center in rural Southwest Alaska. This role combines executive leadership with direct patient care, overseeing clinical operations, quality improvement, provider mentoring, regulatory compliance, and strategic initiatives while delivering comprehensive primary care across the lifespan.

The Medical Director collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and executive leadership to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care, support clinical excellence, and drive organizational performance. Responsibilities include developing clinical policies and workflows, leading peer review and provider development, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, and advancing patient safety and quality initiatives.

Located in Bethel, Alaska—the regional hub for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta—this position offers the opportunity to practice meaningful rural medicine while serving a diverse and underserved population across more than 50 remote communities. Occasional travel to surrounding villages supports community outreach and healthcare access.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Advanced Practice Nursing program
  • Current Alaska APRN license (or ability to obtain)
  • Required: Previous Medical Director experience at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
  • Preferred: 4+ years of clinical experience as an NP (FNP, APNP, CRNA, or CNM)

Compensation & Benefits:
