Huntington Hospital, a distinguished non-profit, 371-bed community hospital within Northwell Health, is seeking an accomplished and Board-Certified AP/CP Pathologist for a pivotal dual role as Staff Pathologist and Medical Director to oversee Anatomic and Clinical Pathology laboratories. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic leader to contribute to both clinical excellence and departmental oversight.
The ideal candidate will possess robust experience in surgical pathology, complemented by demonstrated leadership capabilities. While new graduates with exceptional leadership potential may be considered, significant post-fellowship experience is strongly preferred. Fellowship training in a Surgical Pathology subspecialty is highly advantageous.
In this multifaceted role, the Medical Director will provide clinical expertise and oversight to a high-volume department that manages an impressive annual volume, including over 15,000 surgical specimens and more than 14,000 cytology specimens, encompassing both gynecological and non-gynecological cases. Furthermore, Huntington Hospital is distinguished by its profoundly robust surgical oncology program, offering a compelling and complex clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the entire Pathology Department.
Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
Oversee all clinical and administrative functions, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
Lead, mentor, and evaluate pathology staff, fostering professional growth and a culture of collaboration.
Collaborate effectively with hospital administration, medical staff, and other departments to optimize patient care pathways.
Participate in budget planning, resource allocation, and technology adoption within the department.
Serve as the primary liaison for pathology services within the hospital and the broader Northwell Health system.
