Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid - 2 days remote)

Pay: $20 – $26 / hour

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Medical Collector to join a high-volume billing and collections team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating with insurance companies and legal professionals, resolving denied claims, and ensuring accurate, timely reimbursement for DME services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Submit and manage medical claims using HCFA 1500 forms
- Conduct insurance follow-ups and resolve outstanding accounts
- Appeal denied claims and provide documentation as needed
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure proper authorizations and medical necessity
- Maintain accurate records and documentation using multiple systems
- Assist with prior authorizations and cross-train with the utilization review team
- Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting reimbursement or delayed payments
- Manage high volumes of calls related to billing, collections, and insurance updates
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience in healthcare collections or billing (commercial insurance required)
- Prior authorization or DME experience preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Proficiency with EMR systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Professional demeanor with a proactive and persistent approach
