CERTIFICATION(S) - One of the following is required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Certified Professional Coder (CPC); Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); Registered Health Information Technici Responsibilities POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE No direct patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. 1.Performs mid-level medical coding and charging. Encompassing but not limited to ambulatory clinic, outpatient, observation, ambulatory, emergency department charging, emergency inpatient coding. Performs associate level coding as required. 2.Analyses, researches and corrects moderately complex data integrity issues. Abstracts and collects pertinent patient information housed in the hospital's database. Assigns appropriate charges for emergency and urgent care 3.Contributes to coding compliance and departmental objectives by continuously developing coding abilities and performing duties in harmony with established professional coding standards. 4.Assists entry level coders in identifying basic data integrity issues within the electronic medical records system and subsequently facilitates corrections. 5.Utilizes coding software and coding reference books to perform day-to-day functions. 6.Maintains accuracy for all coding and productivity standards.
