CornerStone Staffing is partnering with a respected healthcare organization to hire a Medical Billing & Coding Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity to join a mission-driven team supporting palliative care services, with the potential to transition into a permanent role.

Medical Billing & Coding Specialist
Location: On-site (DFW Area)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $22–$25/hour
Type: Temporary (Potential for Permanent Hire)

Position Overview

This role is a focused, hands-on billing and coding position responsible for reviewing provider visits and ensuring accurate coding for billing purposes. The organization is transitioning to a more frequent billing cycle, so candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review daily and weekly charts for nurse practitioner and physician visits
• Apply accurate CPT and HCPCS coding
• Ensure compliance with billing guidelines
• Support transition from bi-monthly to weekly billing cycles
• Communicate with third-party billing vendors to resolve discrepancies
• Maintain accurate documentation within the EMR system

Requirements

• 2–5 years of recent, hands-on medical billing and coding experience
• Strong working knowledge of: 
  • CPT codes
  • HCPCS codes
• Experience working in an EMR system
• Practical, on-the-job experience required (certifications alone are not sufficient)

Preferred Background

• Experience in palliative or hospice care billing
• Experience with Medicare Part B billing
• Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) EMR system
• Ability to work independently in a heads-down environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication skills with both internal teams and external vendors
• Flexible and team-oriented mindset
