Salary/Hourly Rate: $30/hr - $32/hr
Position Overview: Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to support its expanding in-house Billing department. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone with medical billing experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has strong knowledge of claims processing, insurance follow-up, and reimbursement. The position reports directly to the Billing Manager and offers long-term growth potential.
Responsibilities of the Medical Billing Specialist:- Generate, review, and submit accurate medical claims.
- Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid or denied claims.
- Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Process Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) transactions.
- Support billing related to No Surprises Act (NSA) cases.
- Ensure accurate coding and billing for pain management and orthopedic services.
- Maintain detailed billing documentation and resolve claim discrepancies.
- Work collaboratively with the Billing team to maximize reimbursement.
Required Experience/Skills for the Medical Billing Specialist:- 2+ years of medical billing experience.
- Strong insurance follow-up and collections experience.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting EOBs.
- Knowledge of medical coding principles.
- Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Medical Billing Specialist:- Experience with pain management billing.
- Experience using ECW systems is preferred.
- Orthopedic billing experience.
- Neurosurgery billing experience.
- Experience with ECW (eClinicalWorks).
Education Requirements:- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Medical Billing/Coding certification is a plus.
