Position Summary

The Medical Billing Specialist supports day-to-day billing operations, including claim submission, payment posting, and follow-up on outstanding claims. This role works closely with internal team members and assists with coordination alongside our third-party billing partner to help ensure timely and accurate reimbursement.


Key Responsibilities

Billing & Claims Support

  • Submit medical claims to insurance payers
  • Review and correct claim rejections and clearinghouse edits
  • Post payments (EFT, checks, credit cards) and reconcile as needed
  • Review EOBs/ERAs for accuracy

Follow-Up & Denials

  • Assist with researching and resolving denied or unpaid claims
  • Perform insurance follow-up through payer portals and phone communication
  • Submit corrected claims or supporting documentation when needed

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Work assigned AR balances and support timely resolution of claims
  • Maintain accurate and detailed notes on account activity

Coordination & Support

  • Assist with communication and follow-up with third-party billing partner
  • Verify patient eligibility and benefits as needed to support billing accuracy
  • Support patient billing questions when applicable

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2–3 years of medical billing experience
  • Experience submitting claims and working claim follow-up in a medical setting
  • Basic understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
  • Familiarity with EHR/medical billing systems and payer portals
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized

Preferred:

  • Certification in Medical Billing/Coding
  • Experience in a specialty medical practice
