Medical Assisting - Faculty Description

South College is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Full-Time Faculty - Medical Assisting. The faculty member will teach Medical Assisting courses as assigned. The successful applicant will need to be able to teach on campus in Asheville, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging and effective instruction for courses in the Medical Assisting program (Certificate and associate degree levels).
  • Prepare course materials, lesson plans, and assessments in alignment with program objectives and institutional standards.
  • Participate in lab activates as assigned
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Support student learning through timely feedback, academic guidance, and professional mentorship.
  • Participate in committees at the department and college levels
  • Participate in ongoing accreditation activities

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Completion of medical assisting certificate or associate degree program
  • Current certification in medical assisting (CMA)
  • Current certification in phlebotomy (CPT) preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a medical assistant
  • Experience in post-secondary education preferred
  • Experience with online instruction preferred
