Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Summary:

  • Monday-Friday, 9-5pm

Responsibilities:

  • Fulfills patient care responsibilities, including venipuncture, EKGs, organizing patient flow, and assisting patients with walking, transferring, and dressing.
  • Assists physicians with procedures, takes vital signs, and provides instructions to patients and families.
  • Performs clerical duties, such as managing patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, and completing forms.
  • Enters orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and prepares prescription refill requests for physician review.
  • Inventories and restocks medical supplies as needed.
  • Sets up examination rooms and instruments following sterilization techniques.
  • Maintains logging systems for medication refrigeration, point of care testing, and sterilization processes.
  • Checks expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing of them appropriately.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining medical charts and may schedule surgeries or procedures.
  • Performs proficient phlebotomy duties if required.
  • Manages appointment scheduling and registration, updating patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verifies and updates insurance information and performs pre-certification for procedures as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • Light level of physical activity required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Effective communication with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred.
  • Adaptability to a growing and changing environment.
