Job Summary

The Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers by assisting with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and care coordination. This role is essential to delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring an efficient clinical workflow and a positive patient experience. The Medical Assistant may also provide ancillary services requiring specialized clinical knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.

  • Prepare patients for appointments by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information.

  • Perform clinical duties within scope of practice, including specimen collection, injections, wound care, and other delegated tasks.

  • Coordinate patient care, referrals, and follow-up appointments.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies.

  • Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care as directed.

  • Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

  • Candidates with at least one (1) year of recent clinical patient care experience (within the last five years) may be considered in lieu of completing a Medical Assistant program.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Licensure / Certifications

  • Certification is not required unless mandated by applicable state regulations or the hiring organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of recent clinical patient care experience.

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

  • Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively with healthcare providers and staff.
