Job Description

This is a Medical Assistant training program intended for individuals with little to no clinical experience and no formal Medical Assistant training. You will need to be able and willing to travel to either the West Penn Nursing School or to AHN Suburban in Bellevue 2 days per week for hands-on training. You need to be able to work the other three days during the week at a physician office practicing your skills during the training period. Once the program is complete, you will be required to sit for the Certification Exam. Following the training schedule, you will need to be able to work 40 hours a week in the physician office for which you were hired. For External Hires, this position starts at 18 hours. Once you are certified, you will be at 19.26.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job is responsible for clinic patient support by performing essential clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the healthcare team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Using the team-based approach assists in the coordination of patient care under supervision of the healthcare provider.

• Prepares and rooms patients within the clinic practice setting according to standardized work flows. • Accurately obtains patient vital signs and history. • May assist in the completion of various screening tools.

Assists providers with examinations and procedures.

• Prepares exam rooms for patient visit. • Ensures adequate inventory of medical supplies. • Accurately performs lab controls and equipment checks.

Provides follow-up with patients via preferred method of communication in accordance with provider instructions.

• Documents accurately in the electronic health record.

Other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• High School • GED • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting

Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Substitutions: None

Preferred:

• Previous patient care experience • BLS
