Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Dermatology Medical Assistant provides clinical support to dermatology providers by delivering high-quality patient care, assisting with procedures, maintaining patient flow, and ensuring a safe and efficient clinical environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation in the EMR.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for dermatologic examinations and procedures.
  • Assist providers with dermatologic procedures, biopsies, surgeries, and other in-office treatments.
  • Serve as a chaperone during sensitive examinations and procedures.
  • Administer medications and injections as ordered and perform delegated clinical duties within scope of practice.
  • Perform specimen collection, processing, and other basic laboratory functions as assigned.
  • Coordinate prescription refills, referrals, patient follow-up, and provider messages.
  • Maintain exam room cleanliness, stock supplies, and ensure instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized.
  • Provide compassionate patient education and exceptional customer service.
  • Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to maintain efficient clinic operations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff training, and departmental meetings.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, infection prevention, safety, and organizational policies and procedures.

Salary Range: $29.46-$38.87

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required: Minimum 1 year of recent Dermatology Medical Assistant experience (required).
  • Current Medical Assistant certification
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience with EPIC/CareConnect or other electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.

As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
