Work Schedule

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required from an accredited institution
  • Must have excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills. This job also requires excellent attendance and attention to detail, plus compassion and empathy.
  • Current Michigan Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) or equivalent experience or training is desirable, but will train individuals with a strong interest in and aptitude for a career in healthcare
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (available through Hillsdale Hospital)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and treatments by completing medical history and other required forms, collecting and recording patient vital signs, and performing point of care testing (POCT.
  • Set up rooms with necessary equipment and supplies as appropriate for procedures, explain processes and tests to patients, and provide relevant materials to patients
  • Assist provider during procedures and chaperone as needed
  • Carry out provider orders at time of provider visit or in follow up. This may include injections, breathing treatment, EKG, dressing changes, weight check, and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Conduct and follow up on lab tests including blood draws and urine samples
  • Ensure all specimens are properly and accurately labeled, review test results, complete related paperwork and assure results are available to providers and documented in patient records
  • Clean and sterilize lab test equipment and instruments
  • Keep exam rooms clean and fully stocked with supplies
  • If it becomes necessary to meet patient care needs, you may be required to float to other clinics
  • Abide by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions
