Title

Medical Assistant (MA)

Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to support medical staff in delivering safe and efficient patient care in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will assist with administrative and clinical duties, prepare patients for appointments, perform basic medical procedures, and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support senior patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist medical staff with patient care and clinic operations
  • Prepare patients for appointments and obtain medical histories
  • Measure and document vital signs and perform pre-exam procedures
  • Assist physicians during examinations and treatments
  • Perform dressing changes, suture removal, and other clinical procedures under supervision
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Sterilize medical and dental equipment according to protocols
  • Maintain exam rooms, clinic logs, and medical supplies
  • Support specialists by preparing patients and documenting medical information
  • Perform COVID testing as needed
  • Monitor emergency carts, refrigerator logs, and quality control checks for lab equipment
  • Provide patient education within scope of practice
  • Triage unscheduled patient requests as directed

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical setting with frail or elderly populations
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Strong organizational, clinical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Venipuncture and urgent care experience preferred
  • Home Health or clinical setting experience preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Education

One of the following is required:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
    OR
  • Completion of a non-accredited Medical Assistant program with a recognized Medical Assistant certification

Certifications & Licensure

One of the following certifications is required for candidates from non-accredited MA programs:

  • Registered Medical Assistant (AMT)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (AAMP)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (AAH)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NATPA)
  • California Certified Medical Assistant (CCBMA)

Additional Requirement:

  • BLS certification required
