At Northwest Hospital's Infectious Disease practice, our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with a wide range of infectious diseases. We partner closely with primary care providers, specialists, and community organizations to diagnose, treat, and manage both acute and chronic infectious conditions. Position Overview

Northwest Hospital's Infectious Disease practice is seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and service-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team.

In this role, you will support physicians and clinical staff by coordinating patient care activities, assisting with examinations and procedures, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, clinically proficient, and committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting patients with complex medical needs.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and clinical procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment rooms by organizing instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Interview patients to obtain and accurately document medical histories, symptoms, medications, and the reason for their visit.
  • Record patient information in the electronic medical record while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Support efficient patient flow while providing exceptional customer service throughout each patient interaction.
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for patients, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant curriculum and/or a minimum of one (1) year of related Medical Assistant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and exceptional customer service.

Travel Requirement: This position requires travel between multiple work locations as needed to support operational and patient care needs.
