Reports To: Clinic Manager or Supervising PhysicianJob SummaryThe Medical Assistant is responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in a fast-paced outpatient clinic. This role helps ensure efficient patient flow, delivers high-quality patient care, and maintains accurate medical records while promoting a positive patient experience.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties
- Welcome and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
- Assist physicians and healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Administer medications, injections, and vaccinations as directed and within scope of practice.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic point-of-care testing.
- Clean, disinfect, and prepare examination rooms and medical equipment.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
- Maintain infection control and safety standards.
Administrative Duties
- Schedule patient appointments and manage clinic calendars.
- Verify patient information, insurance, and demographic records.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR).
- Answer telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally.
- Process referrals, prior authorizations, prescriptions, and medical forms.
- Order and maintain clinical supplies and inventory.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred or required based on state regulations.
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical office or outpatient clinic preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
