Description

This is a per diem/casual, non-benefited position located at Shiley Pavilion in the Torrey Pines area of La Jolla. The typical schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with additional shifts as needed based on clinic needs. Candidates must be available for a minimum of 2 shifts per week. No weekends or evenings are required. Full-time availability is required for 4 to 5 weeks during initial training and onboarding.

Job Duties:

  • Back office duties and front office duties as needed/assigned
  • Perform patient intakes
  • Scribing all visit notes for the dermatologist
  • Completing clerical duties including scheduling patient visits, taking supply inventory and managing medication authorization approvals
  • Float to other sites within the dermatology & mohs specialties depending upon department needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician's practice.
  • Assisting in preparing patients for examination/procedures
  • Assisting physicians with procedures
  • Relaying instructions and testing results from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician''s review
  • Performing vital sign documentation
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry
  • Acquisition of pre-certifications
  • Basic registration and updating of demographics

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year MA experience in an outpatient setting
  • Experience with the following: Epic experience, surgical experience, wound care and/or suture removal, outpatient clinic experience
