Founded in 1921 Straub Benioff Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawaii.
With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties including bone and joint heart cancer endocrinology diabetes family medicine gastroenterology geriatric medicine internal medicine vascular and urology.
Straub is home to the Pacific Regions only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawaii such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
The Orthopedics department is trained to handle the most common of injuries from sprains broken bones and sports injuries to specialized conditions such as arthritis and congenital disorders. Our multi-disciplinary team includes fellowship-trained orthopedic physicians rheumatologists physical therapists nurses and other health care providers that specialize in treating a wide range of injuries in children and adults.
As a Medical Assistant you will join the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide our recognized compassionate health services to patients and their families. In this role you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities in our Orthopedics department. We are looking for someone detail-oriented and attentive with strong communications and patient care skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai'is people.

Minimum Qualifications High school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified Medical Assistant CMA OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry ABR-OE from the American Association of Medical Assistants AAMA OR Registered Medical Assistant RMA from the American Medical Technologist AMT OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant NCMA from the National Center for Competency testing NCCT OR Registered Medical Assistant RMA from American Registry of Medical Assistants OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant NRCMA from National Association for Health Professionals NAHP OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification CMAC from the American Medical Certification Association AMCA OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA from the National Healthcareer Association NHA. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support BLS CPR Card. Must Be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.
Preferred Experience Six 6 months medical assistant experience. Knowledge of Classification Procedural Terminology CPT and/or International Classification of Disease ICD-10 coding. Experience with electronic medical records.
