Pay Rate: $18-$22 per hour

Summary:

  • Shift Timings: M-F 8A-4P

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs, check schedules, and organize patient flow.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with walking, transferring, and dressing.
  • Collect and process specimens, conduct point of care testing, and prepare patients for exams.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and families.
  • Handle clerical duties including sending/receiving medical records and managing charts.
  • Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests.
  • Inventory, order, or restock medical supplies as needed.
  • Set up examination rooms and instruments in accordance with sterilization techniques.
  • Maintain logging systems for medication refrigeration, point of care testing, and sterilization processes.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies, disposing of them appropriately.
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining medical charts and may schedule surgeries/procedures.
  • Perform proficient phlebotomy duties if required.
  • Schedule appointments and update patient demographic and insurance information.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
  • Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
  • BLS certification – Required Issuing Authority: AHA.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and general computer skills.
  • Effective communication with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred.
  • Adaptability to a growing and changing environment.
