Pay Rate: $20-$22 per hour
Shift Timings: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4PM or 9AM - 5PM

Summary:

  • Perform a variety of patient care and clerical duties to support medical staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture, EKGs, and assist with patient flow.
  • Accompany and assist patients with walking, transferring, and dressing.
  • Collect and process specimens, prepare for exams, and assist physicians with procedures.
  • Take vital signs, relay instructions, and provide information to patients and families.
  • Handle clerical duties such as managing medical records and completing forms.
  • Enter orders into the EMR system and prepare prescription refill requests.
  • Inventory, order, and restock medical supplies.
  • Set up examination rooms and maintain sterilization techniques.
  • Maintain logs for medication refrigeration, point of care testing, and sterilization processes.
  • Check expiration dates and dispose of medications and supplies per policy.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining medical charts and scheduling surgeries/procedures if necessary.
  • Perform proficient phlebotomy duties as required.
  • Schedule appointments, update patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify and update insurance information and perform pre-certification for procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
  • Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
  • BLS certification – Required Issuing Authority: AHA.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic computer skills, particularly MS Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred.
  • Adaptability to a growing and changing environment.
