Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesProvides basic level of patient care and treatments. Assists with obtaining vital signs, documents chief complaintand all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with obtaining patient history,assists physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures, sets upexam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures, prepares and may include administratingmedications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician. Obtains lab specimen and fills out requisitionscompletely and accurately. In addition to the above, the Medical Assistant II functions more independently andcoordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary. Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics). Conducts front desk duties such as registration, check-in and scheduling of patients. Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimensaccording to hospital protocol

Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested

Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies

Assists in patient/equipment preparation

Performs follow-up actions as directed

Completes hospital forms per protocol
