Job Title: Medical Assistant – Cosmetic Surgery Post-Op Care Coordinator


Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to manage post-operative patient care for our cosmetic surgery practice. This role is critical to patient outcomes and satisfaction, ensuring every patient receives proper wound care guidance and is monitored closely through the key stages of recovery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and comfortable managing a structured follow-up schedule.


Key Responsibilities


  • Conduct post-operative wound care and incision monitoring, providing patients with clear guidance on proper care and healing expectations
  • Manage and coordinate the structured post-op follow-up schedule: 
    • Day 1 post-op check-in
    • Day 7 post-op follow-up
    • Day 21 post-op follow-up
  • Proactively reach out to patients to confirm and schedule required in-person follow-up visits
  • Assess whether a patient is able to attend in-person; if not, coordinate and facilitate a telehealth visit as an alternative
  • If neither an in-person nor telehealth visit can be completed as scheduled, reschedule the appointment promptly and document the reason for rescheduling
  • Document all patient interactions, wound assessments, and follow-up outcomes accurately in the patient's chart/EMR
  • Communicate any concerning symptoms, complications, or healing irregularities to the supervising surgeon or provider immediately
  • Educate patients on post-surgical care instructions, activity restrictions, and signs of complications to watch for
  • Maintain compassionate, clear communication with patients who may be anxious or uncertain during recovery
Qualifications


  • Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in a cosmetic/plastic surgery, dermatology, or surgical follow-up setting strongly preferred
  • Experience with wound care and post-surgical patient monitoring
  • Comfortable using telehealth platforms and EMR/scheduling software
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a multi-stage follow-up schedule for a full patient caseload
  • Excellent communication and patient-facing skills; empathetic and reassuring bedside manner
  • Ability to identify and escalate potential post-op complications appropriately
Preferred:


  • Experience specifically in cosmetic/aesthetic surgery recovery protocols
