Medical Assistant

Location: Long Island City, NY

Shift: Day Shift | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Responsibilities include patient intake, vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, EKGs, appointment coordination, medical record management, and assisting with examinations and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong patient care skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working in a clinical environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant program.

  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited school.

  • Current AHA BLS Certification.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

  • Phlebotomy and EKG experience.

  • Previous outpatient or physician practice experience.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs and patient medical histories.

  • Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, and EKGs as required.

  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures.

  • Process laboratory specimens and perform point-of-care testing.

  • Enter orders and maintain accurate patient records within EMR systems.

  • Schedule appointments and update patient demographic information.

  • Verify insurance information and assist with authorizations when needed.

  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and medical supplies.

  • Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to clinical operations.
