Starting Pay Rate Range:

Medical Assistant: $16.42 - $19.16, commensurate with experience

Licensed Practice Nurse: $20.38 - $24.12, commensurate with experience

Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) or License Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support physicians and other medical professionals in providing high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include clinical and administrative tasks to ensure collaborative operation of the medical office or healthcare facility.

Principal Functional Responsibilities

Clinical Duties: Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures. Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight. Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures. Administer injections, medications, and basic first aid as directed by the healthcare provider. Perform basic laboratory tests and handle specimens. Conduct ECGs, basic wound care, and point-of-care diagnostic tasks as required. Maintain examination rooms throughout the day by ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of supplies.

Administrative Duties: Schedule appointments and manage patient records. Update and maintain electronic health records (EHRs). Handle billing and coding procedures. Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes. Answer phone calls, greet patients, and manage front-office activities when necessary. Assist with insurance verification and processing.

Patient Education: Instruct patients on medications procedures, and follow-up care as directed by provider. Offer guidance on lifestyle changes, dietary recommendations, and preventive care as directed by provider.

Collaboration: Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, including physicians, APRN, PA, nurses, and administrative staff. Collaborate with other medical assistants to ensure efficient workflow.

Compliance and Quality Assurance: Adhere to all relevant regulations, including HIPAA. Follow infection control and blood-borne pathogen control protocols. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant (MA): Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).

OR

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Current, unrestricted LPN license in the state of Ohio.
  • Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and electronic health records patient management software.

Other Requirements:

Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis). Appropriate immunizations will be provided in the event the current health record is not available or is expired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree
  • Experience in an outpatient office, especially a primary care or substance use disorder practice.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment. Must be able to occasionally lift to 25 pounds.

May be required to assist with clinical operations at other clinical sites when necessary.
