Pay Rate: $18 per hour - $22 per hour

Summary:

  • Shift Timings: 9:00A - 5:00P

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs, check schedules, and organize patient flow.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure room, assist with walking, transferring, and dressing.
  • Collect and process specimens and point of care testing, prepare for exams.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions to patients or families.
  • Answer calls and provide pertinent information.
  • Send and receive patient medical records, obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information.
  • Complete forms and requisitions, manage charts using EMR system or manually.
  • Enter orders into EMR system or prepare prescription refill requests for physician review.
  • Inventory, order, or re-stock medical supplies.
  • Set up examination rooms and instruments following sterilization techniques.
  • Maintain logging system for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, sterilization process, crash cart.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, dispose appropriately.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Comply with personal protective equipment requirements for protection against exposure to hazardous substances.
  • Assist in the maintenance of medical charts (filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms).
  • Schedule surgeries/procedures, verify times with patients, prepare charts, pre-admissions, and consent forms.
  • Perform proficient phlebotomy duties as required.
  • Schedule appointments, register patients, and update demographic and insurance information.
  • Maintain, adjust, and confirm patient office schedule.
  • Verify and update insurance information using internal or web sources.
  • Perform and verify pre-certification for procedures as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
  • Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
  • BLS certification required, issued by AHA.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Must be able to adapt to a growing and changing environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred, but not required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
