Medical Assistant (Lafayette,Indiana) Job Type: Full-Time

Introduction to the Position

Comprehensive Pain and Spine Specialists is committed to improving patients' quality of life through thorough, evidence-based pain management services. We specialize in advanced interventional procedures and multidisciplinary treatment approaches for patients suffering from acute and chronic pain conditions.

As a Medical Assistant within our practice, you will play an essential role in supporting both the clinical and administrative functions of the office. This position requires an individual who is highly organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and fellow team members to ensure the highest quality patient care and operational efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant position requires a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Room and prepare patients for evaluation and treatment.
  • Obtain and accurately document patient histories, vital signs, medication lists, and other clinical               information.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and interventional pain management procedures as                 directed.
  • Assist in the collection of urine drug screen specimens in accordance with practice protocols and               regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas, ensuring appropriate supplies and equipment are available.
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate patient follow-up appointments.
  • Process provider orders for diagnostic imaging, specialty referrals, and other procedural coordination
  • Follow provider discharge instructions and ensure completion of referrals, authorizations, imaging             requests, and patient education.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the EMR.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, pharmacies, insurance companies, and outside healthcare         providers.
  • Assist with patient flow and coordinate care activities to support efficient clinic operations.
  • Perform general administrative duties as assigned.

Professional Expectations

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards.
  • Exhibit proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Effectively multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment focused on exceptional patient care.

Education and Qualification Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred).
  • Current Medical Assistant certification or eligibility for certification in accordance with state and               organizational requirements.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience working in a physician office or specialty practice preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
