Certified Medical Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support a primary care physician in a busy outpatient clinic. This role involves both patient care and administrative duties to help ensure a smooth and positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and prepare them for appointments.
  • Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Order lab tests and document results in the EMR system.
  • Perform point-of-care testing as directed.
  • Handle patient phone calls, follow-up, and communication of test results.
  • Process medication refill requests.
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms and clinical supplies.
  • Complete basic office duties, including filing, scanning, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR.
  • Work closely with physicians and clinical staff to provide quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a primary care or clinic setting.
  • Experience taking vital signs, rooming patients, and performing basic clinical procedures.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems; Cerner/PowerChart experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment.

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday
  • 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

  • Outpatient primary care clinic
  • Fast-paced, patient-focused setting
  • Frequent use of EMR systems and basic medical equipment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
