Medical Assistant II - UI Health Care Sioux City Family Medicine 100%

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient-centered 100% (40 hours a week) Medical Assistant II to work in our Sioux City Family Medicine Clinic. This position supports our Family Medicine Clinic where you'll spend more time with patients and expand your physician-support and administrative duties, increasing the efficiency and productivity of the physician and anticipating future needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic.

Summary:

Under direct supervision of LIP (licensed independent practitioner), RN (registered nurse), NM/ANM (nurse manager/assistant nurse manager) or other licensed designee, functions as a member of the patient care team. Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.

Duties to include:

• Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
• Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
• Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours 7:00am - 5:30pm Monday through Friday; no weekends, no on call, no holidays

Salary: $40,903.92 - $60,760.80 (at 100%) (Hourly $19.59 - $29.10) (based on years of experience)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Special Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

• The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is highly desired.

Desirable Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
• Previous EPIC Experience
• Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.

Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position.
