POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Medical Assistant at MedNOW, you’ll play a vital role in delivering top-quality care and ensuring every patient’s experience is positive and seamless. You’ll work side-by-side with our providers and clinic team to perform both clinical and administrative duties — from rooming patients and taking vitals to assisting with procedures, managing documentation, and keeping the clinic running smoothly.
This position provides valuable clinical exposure and professional experience for students enrolled in Pre-Med, Pre-PA, or Pre-Nursing programs.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
· Provide excellent customer service and compassionate patient care
· Collaborate with providers and clinical staff as part of a supportive team
· Review daily schedules, prepare patient charts, and confirm visit details
· Collect medical history, vitals, medications, and other key information
· Perform point-of-care testing (urine, rapid tests, EKGs, screenings, etc.)
· Administer and document medications and immunizations accurately
· Assist providers with exams and minor procedures
· Perform phlebotomy and process lab orders
· Manage medication refills, referrals, and patient callbacks
· Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and ensure proper infection control
· Support front office operations as needed
· Accurately document patient care in Athena EHR and communicate effectively
· Monitor and manage provider worklists (“buckets”) in Athena
· Uphold patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
· Perform other duties as assigned to support smooth clinic operations
QUALIFICATIONS
· Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
· 1–3 years of hands-on clinical experience preferred
· Current BLS/CPR certification required
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Experience with Athenahealth EHR strongly preferred
· Professional, empathetic, and patient-focused demeanor
· High school diploma or equivalent required
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the clinic
· Regular bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and assisting with patient positioning
· Fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail required
· Exposure to clinical settings and infectious materials — adherence to safety protocols required
