Overview:

 

The Medical Assistant is accountable for the provision of care as delegated according to the policies, procedures and standards of Conway Regional Health System. The Medical Assistant will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork through effective collaboration efforts.

 

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:

 

This position is a designated as “Safety Sensitive Position” under Act 593 of the State of Arkansas. An employee who is under the influence of Marijuana constitutes a threat to patients/customers which Conway Regional is responsible for in providing and supporting the delivery health care related services. 

Qualifications:

 

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred

Experience

  • Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting preferred
  • ENT, surgical, or specialty clinic experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR), preferably Meditech or similar system

Clinical Skills

  • Proficient in patient rooming, vital signs, and medical history documentation
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and assisting with in-office procedures
  • Familiarity with ENT-specific procedures (e.g., ear irrigation, assisting with scopes, instrument handling) preferred
  • Ability to prepare and turn over exam/procedure rooms efficiently
  • Understanding of infection control and central sterile processes

Administrative Skills

  • Ability to manage referrals, prior authorizations, and scheduling workflows
  • Experience answering multi-line phones and communicating with patients professionally
  • Basic understanding of insurance verification and patient check-in/check-out processes
  • Comfortable collecting payments and documenting accurately

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong communication skills with patients, providers, and team members
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and patient-centered care (AIDET principles preferred)
  • Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple providers

Organizational & Work Ethic

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing clinic needs
  • Team-oriented mindset with willingness to cross-train and assist others
  • Demonstrates accountability, initiative, and reliability
