Our TOA Medical Assistants play an important part in the daily operation of our clinics. This role partners with our clinical staff and administrative team members to ensure our patients receive excellent service. Our Medical Assistants demonstrate a deeply rooted compassion for helping our patients, and are committed to making sure our operations run smoothly. Responsibilities include:
- Communicating effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff members in a professional and courteous manner.
- Politely escort patients from waiting room to exam room.
- Obtain patient medical history in electronic health records (EHR), vital signs, medication dosage and frequency, patient allergens, and assist with examinations.
- Remove casts, splints, sutures, and dressings as directed by physician.
- Prepare and assist provider with procedures if needed such as aspirations injections.
- Updating patient’s chart under the direction of the provider during patient visits, recording detailed information into the electronic health records (EHR) system, including medical histories, physical examinations, and treatment plans while using medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Entering E&M/CPT codes and submitting charges to the coding department.
- Document and provide patients with clear instructions regarding their care plan.
- Provide patient education and review home exercise programs.
- Review patient charts for completeness.
- Clean and sanitize exam rooms in between patient visits.
Requirements:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using NextGen or electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detailed oriented.
