Position Summary
The Medical Assisting Clinical Adjunct Faculty performs duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Vice Provost and Dean of the Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute. This part-time adjunct faculty member provides in-person instruction in the Medical Assisting program, with a primary focus on clinical procedures and medication administration courses. The faculty member is responsible for delivering Medical Assisting clinical instruction that aligns with Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) Standards and current clinical best practices. Instruction is primarily offered during daytime hours, with the potential for evening course assignments in future academic quarters based on program needs. This role emphasizes hands-on skills instruction, student competency development, and preparation of students for safe and effective clinical practice in a variety of healthcare settings.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. Compensation is $43.80 - $53.78 per hour. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the Department
To foster the successful completion of our diverse students educational goals, the Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute advances life-long wellness, learning, teaching, and service excellence. The Institute provides a wide variety of accessible, rigorous, and engaging professional/technical courses, programs, and credentials that are responsive to individual, institutional, and community needs, prospects, and opportunities. Our Institute is made up of 16 unique programs focused on providing excellent education and training for many professions in healthcare, education, wellness. Allied Health professionals are specially trained to support physicians and institutions in either clinical or administrative areas. They may assist physicians with patients and minor surgeries, draw blood, run medical lab testing equipment, document patient information in the electronic medical record, determine medical codes for billing purposes, run the administrative offices, be the first point of contact for patients, or provide therapy.
