The Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care for individuals undergoing evaluation and treatment for sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and related conditions.  

Job Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists
  • Assist providers with clinical procedures and patient care
  • Demonstrate and troubleshoot CPAP/BiPAP equipment as needed
  • Perform routine clinical tasks in accordance with practice protocols and state regulations
  • Coordinate home sleep testing setup and patient instructions
  • Process prescription refills and durable medical equipment (DME) orders
Administrative Duties
  • Schedule patients for examination and sleep-related consultations
  • Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries professionally
  • Take estimated payments before scheduling the study
  • Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and authorization requirements prior to scheduled services
  • Track authorization numbers and validity dates
  • Gather medical documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Follow up with insurance for approvals, denials, or additional information
  • Communicate authorization outcomes so patients can be scheduled
  • Coordinate referrals and communicate with primary care providers and specialists
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with insurance, prior authorizations (Medicare and commercial plans), preferred
  • Knowledge of EMR – eClinicalWorks, preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience, preferred
  • Willingness to be cross trained in multiple clinical and administrative functions
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Salary: $18.00/hour
