Position Summary The Orlando Health Medical Assistant Apprentice Program is a paid, full-time workforce development initiative designed to prepare aspiring healthcare professionals for a successful career as a Medical Assistant. Through an innovative "earn while you learn" model, apprentices receive structured classroom instruction, hands-on clinical training, and real-world experience within Orlando Health facilities. Participants develop essential patient care, administrative, and clinical skills while working alongside experienced healthcare professionals. Upon successful completion of the program, apprentices earn Medical Assistant certification and are equipped to transition into rewarding clinical roles within one of Central Florida's leading healthcare systems.. Orlando Health | Choose Well Position Summary Performs patient care in the ambulatory clinic setting under the direction and direct supervision of a Certified Medical Assistant, Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP). Orlando Health offers a great benefits package that includes: Medical, Dental, Vison 403(b) Retirment Savings Plan Health Savings Account (HSA) Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Paid Time Off (Up to 5 weeks to start) Life Insurance Extended Leave Plan (ELP) Family Care (child care, elder care, pet care) Paid Parental Leave Pet Insurance Car Insurance 100% PAID Tuition as well as tuition reimbursment & monthly payments to help pay down any graduated school debt ALL benefits start day one Responsibilities Essential Functions • Works collaboratively with the clinic and operational staff and follows the directions of the Office Manager or Supervisor, Academic Program Manager and Certified Medical Assistant Preceptor • Gathers patient data through interview and observation under direct supervision • Provides routine patient care under direct supervision, consistent with the educational level and skill learned in the academic setting • Assists patients and families with preparation for examination under direct supervision • Assists physician during examination and procedures under direct supervision • Performs skills after achievement and demonstrated competencies • Responsible for documenting information under direct supervision according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines • Practices efficient use of supplies • Receives and processes incoming calls and patient requests under direct supervision • Maintains a safe and clean environment • Assures patient privacy, rights and confidentiality • Follows standard precautions and adheres to hand hygiene and PPE procedures • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs. Completes all mandatory training Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent Licensure/Certification Must obtain BLS/Healthcare Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
