THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN
The Medical Administrative Assistant 1 provides front-office support for the University Family Physicians practice within The Department of Family Medicine. This position provides patient scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, and collecting patient co-pays and account balances.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (Vocational or Technical Training preferred). (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of customer service or administrative experience; OR an Associate's Degree in lieu of experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task in a busy work environment.
Excellent computer skills.
Knowledge and ability to work in Microsoft Office.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings.
Answers the appointment line and assists patients with scheduling appointments.
Performs patient registration/check-ins, patient collections, insurance and demographic verifications.
Prepares and mails new patient applications.
Completes PCP change forms when necessary, during the check-in process.
Answers phone calls and routes calls and messages through EMR.
Schedules interpreters for hearing-impaired patients.
Communicates with patients regarding their appointments and wait times.
Maintains cleanliness of front office space and waiting rooms.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
