- The full salary range for the IT Project Manager is $90,602.20 - $144,728.22. The anticipated hiring range is $90,602.20 to $117,664.82 annually dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- The full salary range for the Senior IT Project Manager is $109,628.22 to $175,120.14 annually dependent upon qualifications and experience.
IT Project Manager
The role of the IT Project Manager is to plan, execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines within scope and budget. This includes acquiring resources and independently coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The IT Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
The IT Project Manager must have demonstrated advanced expertise in all aspects of project management with a strong understanding of information systems development, implementation, and maintenance in Arapahoe County line of business. They must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, functioning as liaisons between various user departments, Information Technology staff, contractors, and vendors. They must be an independent, self-starter that can successfully manage multiple projects and consistently come in on-time, within budget, and to specifications defined in the scope of the project. The IT Project Manager may be required to complete smaller less complex requirements gathering and analysis.
Senior IT Project Manager Only
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for strategic and tactical project planning, tracking, communication, cost effectiveness, risk analysis and mitigation, quality assurance, team and vendor management, and implementation of highly visible, sensitive, and multi-faceted projects.
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to plan, execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines within scope and budget. This includes acquiring resources and independently coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Senior Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
Senior Project Manager must have demonstrated advanced expertise in all aspects of project management with a strong understanding of information systems development, implementation and maintenance in Arapahoe County line of business. They must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, functioning as liaisons between various user departments, Information Technology staff, contractors, and vendors. They must be an independent, self-starter that can successfully manage multiple projects and consistently come in on-time, within budget, and to specifications defined in the scope of the project. The Senior Project Manager may be required to lead multiple projects in parallel, including mid-sized, less-complex projects as needed.
The Senior Project Manager leads project team on large, complex, and/or cross-functional enterprise project implementations as well as mid-sized project efforts. This is a highly responsible and visible position in a competitive industry. It requires a vital combination of leadership, management, communication and technical skills. This individual has a high degree of credibility with ACG departments and offices and coordinates the successful implementation of enterprise I.T. projects. It is dis inguished from the IT Manager position by scope and lack of final accountability for all budgetary and administrative functions of the position.
## Duties
IT Project Manager
- Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Facilitates project management and project status review meetings.
- Direct and manage project development from beginning to end including highly complex or at-risk projects.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to sponsor, team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
- Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
- Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the county.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Develop successful transition plans and recognition for resources on the project team.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Track and report on project milestones and deliverables.
- Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
- Coach, mentor and motivate project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the projects.
- Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Develop Requests for Proposals (RFP) for external services.
- Perform team assessments and evaluations specific to the project.
- Prepare and deliver effective reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas within the project.
- Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed projects to aid management in making implementation decisions.
- Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members.

Project Planning Functions:
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of project management policies, procedures, and standards for the project life cycle definition.
- Provide leadership in discussions of project management department goals and objectives with Information Technology senior management, including project management and classification of strategic, tactical, maintenance, and other projects.
- Direct and manage project development from beginning to end including highly complex or at risk projects.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
- Estimate the type and number of resources, participants and participation needed to achieve project goals.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
