Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Imaging Specialist III – Ultrasound Sonographer provides health care services applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment without supervision. Performs Ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in one of the following areas: OB/GYN, Abdomen, Pediatric or Peripheral Vascular.   • Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation by; or at the request of a licensed practitioner
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served in his/her department
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures
  • Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential to successful completion of the procedure
  • Provides services to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients

What qualifications you will need:

  • Must complete (ARDMS) Pediatric Registry (PS) within 18 months of hire
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program
  • A member in good standing with the American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (A.R.D.M.S) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T) in Sonography
  • Current BLS
  • Demonstrates documented competence specific to the Ultrasound position
  • Registered (ARDMS) must complete ARDMS Vascular Registry (VT) within 12 months of hire or transfer
  • Registered ARRT in Sonography must complete ARRT Vascular Sonography Registry within 12 months of hire or transfer
  • If currently ARRT (R), must be licensed by the State of Nevada in Radiography
