AutoRoboto is seeking a Mechatronic/Robotics Engineer or Systems Integration Engineer to join our dynamic team in Mountain View, California. In this role, you will focus on developing hardware and software solutions for factory line camera calibration of our client's AR/VR devices. This position emphasizes practical implementation over theoretical knowledge, requiring hands-on experience in mechatronics, robotics, hardware design, and software development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hardware Development:
  • Design and develop calibration equipment, robotic fixtures, and automation systems for factory production lines.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to integrate calibration hardware seamlessly into existing workflows.
  • Ensure calibration hardware meets safety and quality standards.
  • Software Development:
  • Develop software applications and control systems to automate camera calibration processes on the production line.
  • Create user interfaces and tools for factory operators to facilitate efficient calibration.
  • Optimize software for performance and reliability in a high-throughput environment.
  • Systems Integration:
  • Integrate hardware and software components to create cohesive calibration systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compatibility and efficiency of integrated systems.
  • Process Implementation:
  • Establish and document calibration procedures for use in manufacturing settings.
  • Train factory personnel on the use of calibration equipment and software.
  • Continuously improve calibration processes to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting:
  • Conduct testing to validate the effectiveness of calibration equipment and software.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during the calibration process on the production line.
  • Implement corrective actions to mitigate future issues.
  • Documentation:
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including user manuals, technical specifications, and process guidelines.
  • Maintain records of calibration results and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred, especially with an applied thesis.
  • Hands-on experience in hardware design and development for manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, Bash.
  • Familiarity with factory automation, robotics, and production line processes.
  • Basic understanding of camera systems and calibration techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work on-site full-time in Mountain View, California.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing calibration equipment or systems for manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of industrial robotics, control systems, and PLC programming.
  • Familiarity with AR/VR devices and related technologies.
  • Experience with integrating hardware and software solutions in a factory setting.
