The Mechanical Technician is responsible for independently executing mechanical maintenance and repair activities in support of safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role works under general supervision and supports mechanical engineers and supervisors with planning, execution, documentation, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and equipment.
Responsibilities:
3+years of pump/air compressor maintenance experience.
Estimate workload and required resources to establish realistic job completion dates
Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on mechanical equipment, including pumps and air compressors
Execute work in accordance with approved job plans, drawings, and procedures
Support mechanical engineers with the planning, installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical equipment
Identify equipment issues and recommend corrective actions to supervisors or engineers
Review job packs prior to execution to ensure work readiness and accuracy
Provide feedback on job pack quality and suggest improvement opportunities to Execution FLS
Record equipment history, completed work, and findings in required systems such as the Global Reliability Tool (GRT), data sheets, and maintenance records
Assist with preparing cost estimates, workload projections, and maintenance proposals
Actively participate in all on‑the‑job safety tools and processes
Identify safety hazards associated with assigned work and ensure risks are mitigated prior to starting tasks
Request required work permits and notify the Supervisor if a permit cannot be issued within 30 minutes of the requested time
Follow all company, site, and regulatory safety requirements at all times
Communicate field conditions clearly and concisely, including equipment status and recommended remediation steps
Work effectively with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians, including those outside direct reporting lines
Support team objectives by assisting others as needed to meet operational priorities
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in pump and air compressor maintenance
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
Working knowledge of maintenance planning and execution processes
Strong communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical issues clearly
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and shifting priorities
Team‑oriented mindset with a strong safety focus
Experience working in industrial, energy, or petrochemical facilities
Familiarity with reliability tools and maintenance documentation systems (e.g., GRT)
Experience supporting engineering evaluations or improvement projects
