    Job Summary
    We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Product Engineer to own the mechanical design of products in our shuttle-based AS/RS portfolio—including shuttles, lifts, aisle hardware, and goods-to-person (GTP) stations. You will lead mechanical product development end-to-end, drive design-for-manufacturing across the product line, and ensure designs are producible, serviceable, and reliable under the demands of real-world warehouse operation. This role defines the physical parameters that enable effective system integration. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing robotic or automated equipment, lives comfortably on the shop floor as well as in CAD, and can mentor junior engineers while driving technical decisions.
     
    Qualification, Education, and Experience Requirements
    •  Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    •  5+ years’ experience in industrial automation, robotics, or material handling mechanical design.
    •  Expert proficiency in SolidWorks, including large assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, and production drawings.
    •  Proven track record with sheet metal design, machining, and fabrication processes.
    •  Expert ability to read and create technical drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
    •  Demonstrated design-for-manufacturing experience—hands-on with suppliers, on the shop floor, and through first-article release into production.
    •  Ability to travel up to 25% to support production and field installations.
     
    Essential Job Functions
    •  Own and drive the mechanical design of AT products—shuttles, lifts, aisle hardware, and GTP stations—from concept through release and sustaining engineering.
    • Make key design decisions for structural components, motor mounts, sensor integration, and cable routing.
    •  Drive design-for-manufacturing and quality improvements across the AT product line.Manage vendor relationships for component selection and supplier coordination.
    •  Define mechanical specifications, motion limits, and clearances for system integration.
    •  Personally build, characterize, and validate prototypes—hands on the hardware, both at the bench and on the integration floor.
    •  Lead design reviews and DFMEA activities; review and approve technical drawings and assembly documentation.
    •  Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in field-deployed systems.
    •  Mentor junior engineers on mechanical design best practices.
     
    Preferred Qualifications and Technical Skills
    • Tool & Die / Manufacturing experience.
    •  Direct experience with AS/RS, shuttles, or material handling equipment.
    •  Experience leading supplier management and production engineering.
    •  Deep knowledge of industrial safety standards (ISO, OSHA, CE marking).
    •  Hands-on experience with motion systems (servo motors, gearboxes, linear actuators).

    Location
    • The work schedule is Hybrid- 4 days in the office and 1 day remote. At times business needs may demand your presence at certain times to be 5 days in the office.
