Mechanical Process Engineer - Engineering

Provide engineering support services on assigned SRR Engineering Teams. Engineering support services include engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping andInstrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment, Pipe, and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews. The individual at times will be required to travel off-Site to interface with vendors, fabricators, and other Engineering organizations.

This service supports Environmental Management Sector Clients and ProSidian Team Members work as part of an Engagement Team Cadre to fulfill T&M - Time and Materials requirements.

Qualifications

The Mechanical Process Engineer - Engineering shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years, Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position.

Work products shall be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and comply with established criteria. All employees, in the performance of their respective responsibilities, shall conduct themselves in the highest possible standards of ethical and business conduct. The candidate shall ensure that duties are performed in a competent and professional manner that meets milestones/delivery schedules as outlined.

Education: A B.S. Degree per the position description is required. Not an A.S. Degree or "Technology" degree. Design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment, Pipe, and Valve Specifications; and Vendor Document Reviews. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of ASME B31.3 code requirements. Candidate demonstrating experience in 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred.

  • BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

Experience/Skills:

  • Candidate must demonstrate five (5) years of design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
  • Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of ASME B31.3 code requirements. Candidate demonstrating experience in 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred.
  • The candidate must have the ability to walk down systems in the field.

Work Hours: A 40-hour workweek is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRR holidays.

Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. A security clearance is not required.

Location: Work shall be conducted at or in proximity to Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina
