This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys fault finding, mechanical repair,preventative maintenance and continuous improvement. You will work on a wide rangeof industrial process equipment including pumps, centrifuges, agitators, compressors,pipework systems and associated plant machinery. Working closely with Production, Engineering and Technical teams, you will play animportant role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability and supportingthe growth of one of Scotland's most innovative manufacturing businesses.The role will report to the Maintenance Team Leader and work closely withEngineering, Production, Technical Development, and R&D teams to support siteoperations, equipment reliability and the continued scale-up of MiAlgae's productionprocesses. 2Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and fault finding onmechanical process equipment including pumps, agitators, centrifuges, valves,pipework and associated plant systems.Diagnose mechanical failures, identify root causes and implement effective repairsto minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.Inspect, overhaul and refurbish rotating equipment and mechanical assemblies tomaximise operational performance and equipment life.Collaborate closely with production operators, engineers, scientists and other teammembers to support site operations and ongoing projects.Record maintenance activities through the CMMS system and contribute to thedevelopment of preventative maintenance strategies and equipment improvementplans.Participate in plant improvement projects, equipment upgrades and installation ofnew machinery as the facility continues to grow.Liaise with specialist contractors and equipment suppliers when required.Support the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and best-practice maintenance procedures.About You - Experience & QualitiesWe are looking for a practical, Mechanical Maintenance Technician who enjoysdiagnosing problems, repairing equipment and taking ownership of plant reliability.Technical proficiency: Able to follow engineering drawings, technical manuals andmaintenance procedures to understand equipment operation, assembly and repairrequirements.Strong practical mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power toolsand maintenance equipment to repair and maintain industrial machinery.Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to identify mechanical issues quickly andimplement lasting solutions.Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and improving the reliability andperformance of equipment. 3EssentialProven experience maintaining and repairing industrial mechanical equipmentwithin manufacturing, processing, utilities or production environments.Strong mechanical maintenance background with experience working on pumps,gearboxes, bearings, motors, agitators, centrifuges, conveyors or similar rotatingequipment.Demonstrable fault-finding and breakdown repair experience.Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and equipmentinspections.Recognised apprenticeship, HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentpractical experience.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals andmaintenance documentation.Strong commitment to safe working practices and maintenance standards.Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinaryteam.Willingness and ability to work shift patterns as required by the productionenvironment.DesirableBasic electrical fault-finding skills and confidence working alongside electricalsystems.Experience using CMMS or maintenance management systems.Experience working within process industries such as food and beverage,biotechnology, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, utilities or manufacturing.Welding, fabrication or fitting experience.Experience supporting plant expansion, commissioning or installation projects. 4Company ProfileFounded in 2016, MiAlgae leverages cutting-edge science and technology to tackleglobal food security and environmental challenges.
