Come work with multidisciplinary engineers focused on delivering world class Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE). You will be responsible for the designs solutions that support the Organization. As an Engineer, you will work with a diverse work force responsible for the development, design, fabrication, test, and delivery of MGSE. Job responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform detailed structural sizing and material/component selection, supporting design studies to optimize structures and meet program requirements.
  • Develop and validate high fidelity FEM models (meshing strategy, material definition, boundary conditions), as well as hand calculations through Roark, Niu, Bruhn, etc.
  • Perform load case generation and factor of safety assessment for critical structures.
  • Generating stress analysis technical memorandums and reports to support data packages, peer reviews, and external customer reviews.

The ideal candidate will have good communications skills (both oral and written) and a background in Mechanical Engineering processes. A willingness to travel is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years or more of professional experience; or no professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered experienced, but still a learner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis
  • Experience with Finite Element Modeling using NX NASTRAN or equivalent (such as FEMAP, etc.)
  • Knowledge and applicable experience to aerospace programs such as aircraft, UAV, missile, or space platforms.
  • Experience performing classical hand calculations and mechanical joint analyses.
  • Candidate must have the ability to work in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
  • US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain or maintain a Secret security clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Master's degree in a structural analysis focused discipline.
  • Mechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis experience
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Static, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of aerospace hardware
  • Knowledge of how to apply new and advanced analytical techniques necessary to perform structural analysis
  • Ability to communicate highly technical content to any level of audience
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment
  • Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
