Mechanical Field Service Technician
Job Summary
The Mechanical Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of high?speed packaging machinery at customer sites. This role involves hands-on mechanical service work, customer interaction, and travel, including occasional international assignments. The technician will support customers through on-site service, training, and remote troubleshooting to ensure reliable machine performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance visits to ensure stable and reliable machine operation
- Install and commission new packaging machines at customer locations
- Provide operator and maintenance training to customers
- Perform mechanical service, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on packaging equipment
- Modify PLC and HMI projects as needed
- Provide first-level remote support for customer issues
- Execute electrical and mechanical upgrades on existing machines
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical system issues using hand tools and precision tools
- Work independently while maintaining a strong customer-focused approach
Education and Experience
- 2-year degree or technical certificate in industrial automation, industrial electronics, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with:
- Packaging equipment installation
- Maintenance and repair
- Troubleshooting mechanical systems
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and machinery
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues in packaging machinery
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and precision tools
- Ability to work independently and interact professionally with customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Spanish language skills are a plus
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel frequently, including:
- Approval for passport and international travel
- Rental car eligibility
