Head of Estimating — Mechanical Contractor

The Company

Our client is a fast-growing, full-service mechanical contractor in West Georgia with a long-standing reputation for quality craftsmanship, engineering excellence, and client trust. As they continue to expand into high-profile markets, they are seeking a Head of Estimating to elevate systems, processes, and people to the next level.

The Role
  • Lead, build, and manage the estimating department with strategy, structure, and accountability.
  • Drive estimating excellence across the full project lifecycle: conceptual through GMP, negotiated, and design-build contracts.
  • Target and win high-growth sectors including data centers, health care, institutional, and industrial.
  • Refine and implement processes, procedures, and tools to ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop the team instilling best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, operations, project management, and executive leadership to align estimates with field realities, budgets, and profitability.
  • Assess risk, analyze cost drivers, and leverage data to improve forecasting and competitiveness.
  • Advance the adoption of technology: estimating platforms, BIM, VDC, and digital takeoffs.

Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) required; advanced credentials (ASPE, AACE, etc.) preferred.
  • 10+ years of estimating experience in mechanical/HVAC/plumbing, particularly design-build.
  • Track record leading large, multi-million-dollar projects in healthcare or data centers.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, controls).
  • Experience introducing or improving estimating systems/procedures.
  • Proven ability to build, mentor, and inspire a team.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, with strong commercial acumen.
  • Familiarity with LEAN, value engineering, institutional contracting, and advanced estimating software a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $100,000 – $130,000 depending on experience.
  • Full corporate benefits: employer-paid health insurance, matching 401(k), vacation (up to three weeks), and more.
  • Leadership seat with visibility and influence during an exciting growth phase.

  • Location: West Georgia (on-site presence is essential to lead and develop the team).
