Mechanical Engineering Manager

Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads the mechanical engineering team in the successful delivery of industrial EPC projects. This role provides technical leadership, resource planning, and personnel management while ensuring safe, high-quality, and cost-effective mechanical designs. The manager oversees project execution from proposal through closeout, collaborates with clients and cross-functional teams, and drives continuous improvement across the mechanical discipline.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
- Manage hiring, performance reviews, coaching, compensation recommendations, and employee development.
- Plan and allocate resources to support project schedules and business priorities.
- Oversee multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Direct mechanical engineering activities from concept through construction support, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
- Serve as the technical authority for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with client requirements and applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, ASHRAE, NFPA, OSHA, etc.).
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, including specifications, calculations, equipment and piping layouts, datasheets, and technical reports.
- Develop project scopes, design philosophies, material selections, and engineering risk assessments.
- Ensure designs are constructible, peer-reviewed, and aligned with industry best practices.
- Support the use of engineering tools including CAESAR II, COMPRESS, AutoPIPE, CADWorx, Plant 3D, and SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, construction teams, vendors, and fabricators to resolve technical issues and support project execution.
- Review vendor submittals and support procurement of mechanical equipment, including rotating equipment, pressure vessels, HVAC systems, and related components.
