Imagine this:

You start your day on the shop floor in Ogden, UT, where a critical piece of process equipment is due for a major upgrade. Operations needs uptime, Quality needs compliance, and Safety needs assurance. You coordinate stakeholders, run a quick FEA in ANSYS to validate a design tweak, finalize the spec, and lead the team through installation, testing, and qualification—keeping everything aligned with nuclear-industry standards. That’s the impact you’ll have as our Mechanical Engineering Lead.

Role overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering, you will provide on-site mechanical engineering leadership for a manufacturing and chemical process facility serving the commercial nuclear power industry. You’ll blend hands-on plant support with rigorous design and project leadership.

How you’ll contribute

  • Deliver daily technical support to operations and maintenance to sustain safe, reliable production.
  • Lead the design and implementation of new and modified systems: define processes and equipment, oversee installation/fabrication, manage testing and qualification, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Diagnose system failures using engineering methods and implement effective resolutions.
  • Identify and recommend advancements in materials, machinery, manufacturing, and chemical processing to tackle complex problems.
  • Create methods and standards for materials selection, equipment configuration, and process design.
  • Perform engineering calculations and Finite Element Analyses (ANSYS or similar) to verify designs.
  • Head cross-functional capital projects: establish charters, management plans, schedules, WBS, risk plans, and budgets; coordinate across departments to deliver outcomes.
  • Produce thorough engineering specifications, detailed drawings, and complete design documentation.

What you’ll need

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years in manufacturing or chemical plant environments.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk or SolidWorks and ANSYS.
  • Working knowledge of ASME codes.
  • Proven skills in CAD and mechanical design and engineering.

Where and how you’ll work

  • Location: Ogden, UT.
  • On-site requirement: 100% on-site.
  • Reports to: Senior Manager of Engineering.
