Description

Our client in Tukwila, WA is currently hiring for a Mechanical Engineer - Wire Harness. This position is a hybrid opportunity supporting the design, development, testing, and production of advanced satellite systems and spacecraft hardware. The ideal candidate will have experience in wire harness design, CAD modeling, manufacturing documentation, and supporting products through the full lifecycle from concept through production.

Pay - $49.00/hr. to $62.00/hr.

Location - Tukwila, WA (Hybrid)

Schedule - Standard Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Design spacecraft wire harnesses, cable routing systems, and support structures using PTC Creo.
  • Develop wire harness layouts and interconnect solutions for spacecraft components, instrumentation, and ground support equipment.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, assembly drawings, flat-pattern drawings, and bills of material.
  • Support products through the full development lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Generate technical reports, presentations, and manufacturing documentation to support engineering activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop space vehicle systems and hardware solutions.
  • Support manufacturing and production teams by providing design intent and resolving build issues.
  • Review nonconformance reports and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Develop tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment to support integration and testing activities.
  • Support prototype, flight, and ground support hardware throughout development and production.
  • Utilize Windchill and configuration management systems to manage product data and engineering changes.
  • Participate in integration and test activities to validate designs and ensure successful production readiness.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to balance performance, manufacturability, reliability, quality, and schedule requirements.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience.
  • Experience designing wire harnesses, cable routing systems, or electrical interconnect solutions.
  • Experience using CAD software to develop wire harness models and manufacturing drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience taking designs from initial concepts through detailed manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficiency with PTC Creo.
  • Experience using Windchill or similar Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
  • Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, production, or integration activities.
  • Ability to create detailed engineering documentation, drawings, and bills of material.
  • Understanding of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies.
  • Experience supporting integration testing of mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must meet requirements necessary to work on programs subject to export control regulations.

Disqualifiers

  • No wire harness design experience.
  • No experience using PTC Creo.
  • No experience creating manufacturing drawings or engineering documentation.
  • No experience supporting products from concept through production.
  • No familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Limited CAD experience related to mechanical design.
  • Less than 5 years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49.00 - $62.00/hr.
