We're looking for a quick hire to fill this full-time, on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer, based in Springfield, OH. The primary purpose of our Mechanical Engineers is to engineer custom equipment used in the metal casting industry. You must be a flexible, results-oriented problem-solver. Projects generally vary from one to the next, therefore you must thrive on variety and enjoy taking on new challenges. This position also works closely with our production team and customers. Some travel may be required (up to 10%).
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manages project from design through installation
Perform analysis to develop design options for structures, systems and components to meet customer requirements
Reviews the accuracy and feasibility of all drawings and bill of material releases
Participates in engineering & design solutions including applications, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, & safety
Utilize SolidWorks design software to perform engineering and design tasks
Leverages AutoCAD and other design tools to ensure work is completed efficiently
Provides application engineering support and cost projections for Sales
Provides technical support for service department and direct customer service
Conducts research & development for new products
Drives implementation of standardization and modularization of product lines
Conducts cost analysis to determine profitability and future sales prices
Direct interaction with customers
Works independently and with a team
Supports & assists other areas as needed
Always represents Palmer in a positive and professional manner
Candidate qualifications:
Bachelor’s or associate degree with minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience in a related field
3D modeling experience utilizing SolidWorks required
AutoCAD experience required
SolidWorks PDM experience preferred
Industrial machine shop or industrial manufacturing experience preferred
Foundry operations or bulk material handling experience preferred
Project Management experience preferred
Familiarity with ERP Systems, SAP preferred
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong organizational and detailed analytical skills
Ability to handle multiple projects and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision
Proven ability to initiate and support change to the organization
Ability to interact with all levels of management at the local and division levels
Ability to sit and/or stand/walk for extended periods of time; navigate stairs and congested workspaces several times daily; bend, kneel, & reach overhead
