Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

This role focuses on designing and developing industrial mobile electrification systems by translating customer requirements into accurate, manufacturable mechanical designs. The Mechanical Design Engineer supports engineering changes and works closely with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure that designs meet performance, reliability, and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into detailed mechanical designs and drawings for industrial mobile electrification systems.
• Create and update 2D and 3D design documentation using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Support engineering change processes by revising designs, drawings, and related documentation as needed.
• Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with customer expectations.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles to design components and assemblies, including sheet metal parts and related structures.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of design standards, drafting practices, and documentation procedures.
• Participate in project planning and coordination activities to help ensure designs are completed on schedule.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing during production, addressing design-related questions and issues.
• Review designs for manufacturability, safety, and quality, and recommend improvements where necessary.
• Maintain organized design files and records to support traceability and future design modifications.

Essential Skills

• Entry-level experience in mechanical drafting and design.
• Proficiency with mechanical design and drafting tools, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering and mechanical design principles.
• Ability to design and document sheet metal components and assemblies.
• Experience supporting design activities in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic project management capabilities to support design tasks and timelines.
• Associate degree in an engineering-related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on industrial or mobile equipment designs.
• Familiarity with industrial electrification or related mechanical systems.
• Strong attention to detail in creating and reviewing engineering drawings.
• Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
• Ability to adapt to engineering changes and evolving customer requirements.
• Interest in growing within mechanical engineering, design, or project management roles.

Work Environment

The Mechanical Design Engineer works in a professional engineering and manufacturing environment focused on industrial mobile electrification systems. You will regularly use CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and collaborate closely with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality teams. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
